In recent years, Charleston has become one of the most popular wedding destinations and we welcome your wedding party and guests, and assure you they will love being invited to a Charleston Wedding catered by Hamby's.
Some of the most commonly asked questions are answered below. Please refer to Additional Services for more information not listed below.
A Private Gift For You
On the evening of your wedding reception, a lovely bridal food basket is provided so that you and your groom will be able to enjoy the food in a more private setting! We include a bottle of champagne for your special celebration as well.
Hamby Service - Unmatched
Hamby Catering is happy to work with your wedding planner, or directly with you and your family to handle all the details of an out of town or local wedding including helping coordinate professional florists, photographers, entertainers, lighting, décor and display, and with the venue itself.
Music always adds to your event, so why not consider a harpist or violinist? We are also pleased to recommend a band that suits your dancing pleasure.
Signature Wedding Cakes
We have an extremely talented French trained chef who creates the most spectacular wedding and groom's cakes you have ever seen! Let our food delight your guest's tastebuds and eyes. Wow! What a lasting impression.
Length of Reception
Most Wedding Receptions last about 3 to 4 hours. Our contract provides up to four hours of service. Any overtime is charged at 25% of the food and labor costs per hour. Normally, when the bar service ends or closes, the rest of the party tends to follow suit. It is safer to conclude the serving of any alcohol at least one hour before your guests are anticipating to be leaving your venue. The bar is scheduled for 3 hours but for an additional charge, it may be extended. No credit is given if the function is ended earlier than planned.
Set up
For set up prior to function, our staff arrives typically arrives 2 to 3 hours ahead to set up necessary food stations and tables. Our staff strives to prepare your displays and setting just as you have envisioned. It is their aim to make your wedding day perfect. The servers leave the venue in the same condition. It is recommended that you select your own toasting flutes for your reception toasts. These are not provided unless requested by the Bride.
Please refer to the heavy hors d'oeuvres menu for standard reception food items. We can also do fully seated serves which are the most elegant but do require extra labor and enough space. Although not limited to other styles of menu for weddings, stand up receptions may be best suited for many venues in our area.
The difference between "reserving" your date versus "booking" your date
To reserve a date in question, we require a 20% to 40% deposit along with a signed contract.
We operate on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. The more popular months for weddings are April, May, June, and October.
After your first meeting with a Hamby Catering Consultant, we are simply holding a reservation of our staff for your event. Please keep in mind your event is not confirmed until we receive a deposit and signed contract.
